Avoid Bleeds
A bleed is when printed matter (text or graphics) prints to the edge of the paper. Ex. if you want a finished size of 8.5"x11" with bleed, you would have to print on to paper that is larger than 8.5"x11" those resulting in a change in paper cost.
Use Standard Paper Sizes
Using standard paper sizes along with a no bleed can keep your print costs down. Ask your printer what the most economical dimensions are for your job.
Ask/Look for Alternatives in Achieving Your Print Job
If offset printing, is too much, try going with a reputable copy shop. Or ask your printer if they offer digital printing for small quantities.
